Team Herbalife Wheelbase - Halfords Tour Series

June has been a very busy month indeed for the team. Having been invited to take part in two of the ITV 4 televised town centre criteriums, sponsored by Halfords, the team elected to compete in the Stoke on Trent and Oldham events. Round 5 at Stoke proved to be a babtism of fire with crashes, punctures and many of the seasoned pro's later commenting on it being one of the fastest events in the three year history of the series. The following event in Oldham saw the team fair a lot better with Andy Coupe getting involved in the break early in the race.

On the road the team have had some great results. Jack Cutsforth has competed in the mid-week BBM Bikes Road Race Series in Yorkshire where he has had both a 1st and 2nd place. Andy Coupe, back from his injury at the Lincoln Grand Prix won the mid-week CDNW event at Horwich along with a win at Preston Arena in the CDNW SiS sponsored Criteriums and Richard Bott won a round of the season long mid-week Graham Weigh Criteriums at Rhyll.
Sam Jackson's winter training regime in Spain has started to pay dividends as he won the Bob Swailes Memorial Race on the tough Old Hutton course and gained a 2nd place at Lazonby, having been in a long 2 up break. These results have seen Sam now gain his 1st Category race licence; congratulations Sam. Jack Cutsforth has also gained his 1st Category licence; well done Jack, taking 3rd place in front of a huge crowd in the Classic Race at the famous Otley Town Centre Races. Jack has also proved himself to be an enormously valued team player when last week, he, Alastair Kay, Simon Baxter having recovered from a broken wrist and Jamie Shirlaw took part in Pete's Race near Pontefract, playing a great part in Dillon Byrne's uphill sprint to take a fabulous victory.
Wheelbase.co.uk sponsored the popular Morecambe Bay 2 Day road race and with the team securing some good placings and working for the GC it was Jamie Shirlaw who sprinted to victory on the final stage at Ulverston.

Jamie has now travelled to Belgium where he will be racing for 3 months under the guidance of the Dave Rayner Foundation. His first race is this Sunday, so best wishes go to Jamie.
Jack Sadler has been taking part in his season long series of Youth A races up and down the country, taking a 3rd at Horwich and more recently a 3rd at the Stafford GP, part of the British Cycling National Elite Circuit Race events held mid-week.

Lyn Hamel made the long trip to Devon to take part in the 25 mile National Time Trials and with 16" she missed the podium to finish 4th. Last week Lyn also took part in the Women's National Road Race and finished comfortably in the bunch.

July will prove to be no less busy for the team starting on Saturday with the Arthur Campbell Memorial Race in Scotland, part of the SuperSix series then the mid-week National Series criteriums and weeknd road races including the televised Premier Calendar series to take part in. The team is currently sitting in 11th position in the British Cycling National Rankings and is showing every chance of holding that position if not elevating it.
